Students Working to Advance Technology

The Lackland Elementary SWAT program is the offspring of the TAKE 5 technolgy club.  In previous years, students focused on exploring digital learning tools along with creating a digital school map.  In addition, the technology department, club sponsors, and students coordinated their efforts to research the possibility of producing a video news program.

Last year, the Eagle Eye News broadcast was a reality.  Students learned production and broadcasting elements along with the technical aspects of running the equipment.  The result was an outstanding newscast that was even featured on NEWS 4 WOAI!

This year, the Eagle Eye News plans to incorporate even more video and feature stories along with a few surprises.  Stay tuned!

SWAT students will also be involved in the iPad initiative on our campus.  They will help configure and distribute iPads to classrooms and will evaluate educational apps for student productivity.  It promises to be an exciting year filled with challenge and adventure!
