Lackland ISD Welcomes New Schools' Chief
Beginning July 1, 2009, Lackland Independent School District will have a new superintendent. Dr. Burnie Roper will take over the reigns from Dr. David Splitek, who is retiring June 30, 2009, after nine years at the helm of the TEA Recognized District.
"I am excited about the opportunity to follow behind such a renowned educator"
says Dr. Roper. "It is my hope to continue the tradition of excellence that has long been associated with Lackland Schools. We will continue to provide the best education possible for our military-connected students as we support the sacrifices that each of their parents are making while they serve our great country."
Dr. Roper most recently completed his fifth year as the principal of Stacey Jr/Sr High School which is the secondary campus located in the Lackland School District. Dr. Roper has also served in administrative roles in the Ft. Sam Houston, Judson, and Southside School Districts. He began his teaching career as a sixth grade math teacher in the San Antonio Independent School District.

New Leadership at Stacey Jr/Sr High School
Stacey Jr/Sr High School will have new leadership this fall. Mrs. Gail Horn was selected to lead the 7-12 campus after her predecessor Dr. Burnie Roper was promoted to superintendent of schools.
Mrs. Horn comes to Stacey from the Fort Osage School District in Missouri. She is a veteran principal with experience at the middle and high school level. Mrs. Horn moved to Texas to be near her family and new grandchild. "Mrs. Horn possesses the knowledge and skills we were looking for" says Dr. Roper. We welcome Mrs. Horn to the Stacey family and look forward to her many contributions this coming school year.
