![]() L.I.F.E. (Learning In Functional Environments) Skills In the LIFE classroom we work on the skills needed for functioning in daily life. Our basic goal is to prepare students to function as independently as possible when their years in school are over. We cover the same subject areas depending on student need, but in more functional ways. For example: Language Arts - communication; reading logos and environmental print, sight words, and safety signs; listening; writing; handwriting Math - number recognition, matching, counting, one-to-one correspondence, sorting, money identification, measurement, time Social Studies - social skills and interaction, appropriate behavior in community settings, recreation and leisure skills, shopping Science - beginning food preparation, feeding, dressing, body parts, self care, housekeeping, plants, animals |
