The Stacey Cross Country teams entered the Comfort High School Bobcat/Deer Invitational meet this past weekend and in spite of the rainy weather, managed to get all their races in by noon. In the past, this meet was held at the Hermann and Sons Camp just west of Comfort. This year's race was held at Comfort High School. The Girls' High School Varsity division was the first to start at 9:00 AM and Stephanie Glatt and Megan Benoit were at the line representing Stacey. Stephanie finished the two-mile course in 12:59 and placed 8th overall. Megan was not far behind finishing the course in 13:56. In the High School Boys' Varsity race, there were seventy-two runners entered. Stacey once again managed to put together enough runners for a team and were lead by Robert Rayburn who finished the three-mile course in 18:53. Robert was followed by Garrett Wimsatt (19:10), Jaxon Moton (20:52), JP Bernard (20:53), and Carlos Salgado (21:23). In the Girls' Jr. Hi. race, Tawnee Wimsatt had another great run completing the course in 13:50 and placing 8th amoung the 8th grade girls. In the Boys' Jr. Hi. race, Kelly Knippel lead all Stacey runners and placed 4th overall amoung the 8th grade boys. Kelly completed the two-mile course in 11:58. Kelly was followed by Josh Manley (14:05), Brandon Hernandez (15:04), and Ghydeon Stuart (17:17). The next race is a big one and it will be the last invitational before the district meet on the 25th. We will travel east to compete in the TLU Bulldog Invitational in Seguin. Check the web page link for more information on this and other races.
