A huge congratulation goes out to the Stacey Cross Country Teams for their performance at the District 30-A Cross Country Meet. In the Girls’ Jr. High Division, two Stacey runners were entered in the race. Jennifer Zimmerman took 1st place (16:44) in the 7th grade division and Tawnee Wimsatt took 3rd place (15:17) in the 8th grade division. In the Boys’ Jr. High race, Dardo Salgado took 1st place (13:45) in the 7th grade division and Kelly Knippel took 3rd place (13:31) in the 8th grade division. Other Jr. High runners competing were Josh Manley (16:45), Brandon Hernandez (16:54), and Ghydeon Stuart (20:02). In the High School races, every competitor qualified either as an individual runner or as a team runner and will compete in the Regional Meet November 4th. Stephanie Glatt took 2nd place (14:11) and Megan Benoit placed 10th (15:44) and will be entered as Individual Runners. The Boys' team, led by Josh Knippel in 5th place (20:14), Garrett Wimsatt in 7th place (20:39), Alex Ramos (22:04), Carlos Salgado (22:33), Jaxon Moton (23:02), Charles Atkinson (23:47), and Jean Paul Bernard (24:52) took 3rd place as a team enabling them to compete in the Regional Meet. The fields were fairly small compared to the big invitationals we've been running in all season. Here, the Girls' Varsity runners from Bracketville, Nueces Canyon, Rocksprings, Sabinal, Charlotte, Medina, LaPryor, Johnson City and Stacey line-up and await the starter's pistol.

Many of the runners felt that this was the most challenging course of the year as the soggy ground and hilly conditions made the final sprint hard to find.

Missing the Regional Meet last year by one place, Megan finished in the top ten and thus qualified for the Regional Meet at Brooks City Golf Course.
