The National Weather Service is forecasting snowfall accumulations and a hard freeze across portions of South Central Texas. On Friday, Dec. 4, light flurries are possible for the morning commute, increasing to a more widespread accumulation of snow by the afternoon and early evening as temperatures fall throughout the day.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. The decision to close schools is made with the best intentions in mind for our students and staff and only after a very thorough evaluation process.

Because we are located on Lackland AFB, the decision to close Lackland schools will depend largely on what the Command Post (CP) decides to do in terms of base closure. We will also consider weather reports and reports from the Texas Department of Transportation in making an informed decision.

By 6 a.m. on the day of any severe weather, the superintendent's decision to close all schools is based on the findings of the Lackland AFB Command Post (CP), reports from the Texas Department of Transportation, and local weather reports.

For the most up-to-date information, parents are urged to watch local news, listen to radio reports and visit the Lackland ISD Web site. If classes are cancelled, the make up day will be held April 2, 2010.
