![]() As you enter sixth grade, be prepared to complete more assignments requiring the use of technology. We try to incorporate as much technology into the curriculum as possible in order to meet the middle school technology standards. Students are tested on these skills for the first time in eigth grade. Every student will have access to a laptop and will be expected to use it in a professional manner throughout the year. Every family must read and sign the Lackland ISD Technology Acceptable Use Agreement.
Moodle is a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in which each 6th grade student will participate. In our moodle you will find the 6th grade curriculum, current units of study, key vocabulary your child should be studying, nightly homework assignments, class handouts and documents, samples of student work, and much more. Students will become more familiar with the moodle as the year progresses and they continue to use it on a regular basis. Parents, we encourage you to visit each class moodle at least once a week to keep in touch with what is happening in your child's classroom. BrainPOP offers animated curriculum-based videos that engage students and include activities and quizzes to test student comprehension. BrainPOP quizzes will often be assigned as homework. Students are expected to watch the assigned video, take the online quiz, and email (or print) the quiz results to the correct teacher.
Atomic Learning offers tutorials on a variety of useful applications.
FasttMath is a network program that focuses on improving the speed and accuracy of students' basic math facts. Students are expected to complete FasttMath daily as they arrive to school. FasttMath takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
Spelling City is a website that teachers input key vocabulary and spelling lists into and allows students to practice their words through worksheets and 12 online games. |
