Superintendent's Message

Dear Students and Parents,

We are excited about the upcoming 2023-2024 school year! We are honored you have chosen to be a part of the Lackland Independent School District family. Lackland ISD has a proud tradition of academic excellence and hopes to continue this tradition with your help and support. Our dedicated administrators, teachers, and staff look forward to serving our students and ensuring they have a successful school year. We recognize and appreciate the sacrifice that the parents of our students make every day as members of the Armed Forces. Therefore, we strive to provide a learning environment that is safe and nurturing so that parents can focus on their mission. We wish our students and parents the best during the 2023-2024 school year.

We hope that you have had an enjoyable and restful summer. Our theme for this school year is “Keeping It 100” which refers to our aim of achieving 100% of our goals (over time) in our Strategic Plan addressing the areas of 1) Highly Effective Instruction; 2) Response to Intervention; 3) Family and Community Engagement; and 4) Positive School Culture. We cannot do this alone and invite our community to help us reach our goals as we endeavor to “Keep It 100”.

This past summer, we initiated several renovation projects for both campuses. At the elementary school, we renovated the 1st grade building with new floors lighting, and fresh paint. We also added a new electronic entry door in the main office hallway that will add an additional layer of security for our students and staff. In addition, we constructed an additional office space for the elementary registrar which will help ensure confidentiality when meeting with parents. At the secondary school, we have completed the outdoor deck project which will provide students and staff with a comfortable place to eat lunch and for teachers to conduct outdoor classroom activities. We also renovated the Cynthia Lyon Center with new lighting, flooring, outlets for several workstations, and fresh paint.

As a reminder, please be aware that our school doors will remain locked during the school day. Please ensure you make an appointment with the school before arriving. All visitors will be required to check in the front office before visiting any classrooms or offices.

The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 14, 2023. Focusing on our student’s academic achievement and their social and emotional well-being will continue to be a priority.

We will continue our District Town Hall meetings that we began during the 2022-2023 school year to allow our parents and community members to share their concerns and work with the District to improve the educational experience for all Lackland ISD students.

Again, we welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year and are grateful that you are a part of our family.
