Superintendent's Message

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the  2024-2025 school year! We are honored you have chosen to be a part of the Lackland Independent School District family. Lackland ISD has a proud tradition of academic excellence and hopes to continue this tradition with your help and support. Our dedicated administrators, teachers, and staff look forward to serving our students and ensuring they have a successful school year.  We recognize and appreciate the sacrifice that the parents of our students make every day as members of the Armed Forces.  Therefore, we strive to provide a learning environment that is safe and nurturing so that parents can focus on their mission.  We wish our students and parents the best during the 2024-2025 school year.

We hope that you have had an enjoyable and restful summer.  Our theme for this school year continues to be “Keeping It 100” which refers to our aim of achieving 100% of our goals (over time) in our Strategic Plan addressing the areas of 1) Highly Effective Instruction; 2) Response to Intervention; 3) Family and Community Engagement; and 4) Positive School Culture. We cannot do this alone and invite our community to help us reach our goals as we endeavor to “Keep It 100”.

This past summer, we began the renovation of our Jr/Sr high school gym. We are replacing and updating light fixtures, we are renovating restrooms, locker rooms, the weight room, and offices. We are also installing new retractable basketball goals and replacing the  gym floor.  This is a major renovation that has taken longer than we expected, but our contractor is working hard to get this project completed by October 31, 2024.

As a reminder, please be aware that our school doors will remain locked during the school day. Please ensure you make an appointment with the school before arriving. All visitors will be required to check in the front office before visiting any classrooms or offices.

The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 12, 2024. Focusing on our student’s academic achievement and their social and emotional well-being will continue to be a priority.

We will continue our District Town Hall meetings that we began during the 2022-2023 school year to allow our parents and community members to share their concerns and work with the District to improve the educational experience for all Lackland ISD students.

Again, we welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year and are grateful that you are a part of our family.

Sincerely,

Dr. Burnie L. Roper
Superintendent of Schools
