Superintendent's Message

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We hope that you have had an enjoyable and restful summer.  Our theme for this school year is  “Building Community – It Takes a Village”.

Although we certainly would have hoped that COVID-19 would be in our rear-view mirror by now, we know this is not the case. So, we all must remain vigilant as we continue to deal with the challenges associated with the ongoing pandemic. As a district, we will continue to implement safety protocols that we have the past two years. At the time of me writing this letter, masks remain an option for all students and staff, however, we will monitor both JBSA - Lackland and he City of San Antonio COVID-19 protocols and will adhere to any changes mandated by the either entity. We are asking that parents please monitor the health of your child(ren) and please do not send them to school if they are sick. We will have protocols in place to address any possible or confirmed COVID-19 cases. We encourage parents to get their children vaccinated and/or boosted if they have not done so.

We are currently completing the renovation of our Pre-Kindergarten building this summer and look forward to a updated facility for our wonderful PK students, teachers, and staff.

As a matter of safety, please be aware that our school doors will remain locked during the school day. Please ensure you make an appointment with the school before arriving. All visitors will be required to check in the front office before visiting any classrooms or offices.

The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 15, 2022. Focusing on our student’s social and emotional well-being will continue to be a priority. Our school board authorized the hiring of an additional Social Emotional Student Coordinator and Interventionist which means we will have one individual at each campus dedicated to addressing the social-emotional needs of our students.

We are excited about the upcoming school year! We are honored you have chosen to be a part of the Lackland Independent School District family. Lackland ISD has a proud tradition of academic excellence and hope to continue this tradition with your help and support. Our dedicated administrators, teachers, and staff look forward to serving our students and ensuring they have a successful school year.  We recognize and appreciate the sacrifice that the parents of our students make every day as members of the Armed Forces.  Therefore, we strive to provide a learning environment that is safe and nurturing so that parents can focus on their mission.  We wish our students and parents the best during the 2022-2023 school year.
