Lackland ISD Celebrates the Month of the Military Child
Lackland ISD exists to serve the military child. April is the Month of the Military Child. It is a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, emphasizing the experiences of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. April 15 is "Purple up! For Military Kids", a day recognized in military-connected communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported. Air Force (blue), Army (green), Navy (blue), Marine (red), and Cost Guard (blue) all combine into a single color, purple.
Lackland ISD began its recognition of the 'Month of the Military Child' on April 1, 2021, prompting students to wear their pajamas as a reminder to follow their dreams. Each Thursday of the month will encourage activities for student participation. Please watch for school messages to share how we will continue the celebration and recognition of military children.
