National Principals Month is recognized annually in October. It is a widely recognized celebration marked with national and state resolutions to highlight an appreciation for the hard work and dedication involved in the principalship. As emphasized by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), “Principals set the academic tone for their schools, and it is their vision, dedication, and determination that provide the mobilizing force for achieving student success.”
This quote holds true for the elementary school principal, Mrs. Leija, and secondary principal, Mr. Shelby. Each is committed to exceeding expectations in the social, emotional, and academic support that are provided to our students. Mrs. Leija has served as principal of Lackland Elementary School for 11 years and Mr. Shelby has served as principal for 4 years at Stacey Jr./Sr. High School.
We truly appreciate what each principal contributes to Lackland ISD toward the outstanding opportunities that are afforded to our students and staff. You are continuing to meet the challenges presented by COVID-19 and recognizing the importance of cultural relevance in your daily actions. National Principals Month and the staff and leadership of Lackland ISD honor you and your efforts.
