Lackland ISD strongly desires parent engagement. You have an opportunity to share your voice and help us actualize our vision to ignite a passion for life-long learning and empower excellence.   As you engage as a parent, we also invite your participation in campus and district-level committees. Below are the descriptions for these committees for your consideration. If you have additional questions, each committee’s point of contact is listed with the committee description.

Please read each description and share your interest in supporting the committee or learning more about it.

School Health Advisory Council

The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) assists the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the health education program.  The council will address the continued implementation of a coordinated health program, including health education, physical education, health services, nutrition services, counseling, a healthy school environment, staff health promotion, and family/community involvement.  This committee must have more parent representation than district staff representation.  The SHAC meets at least four times during the school year.  Two meetings occur after-school, and two meetings occur during the school day.

District Calendar Committee

The District Calendar Committee assists the district in the development of the school calendar.  Lackland ISD’s District Calendar Committee will develop the calendar for the 2027-2028 school year for board approval. The committee also makes any necessary recommendations for the previously board-approved 2026-2027 school calendar based on new information.  The District Calendar Committee meets after school during the spring semester.  Following the initial meeting to design the calendar, the committee may have additional meetings to consider stakeholder feedback and finalize the calendar for the District Education Improvement Council and the Board of Trustees.
