Family Engagement

Lackland ISD provides quality education for every student in collaboration with a strong family engagement program.  Lackland ISD is dedicated to developing and maintaining partnerships with parents, school staff, and community members for academic achievement of all its students. 

Family engagement in this partnership may include:
 

  • Encouraging your child to put a high priority on education and working with your child to utilize the educational opportunities Lackland ISD provides.
  • Ensuring that your child comes to school ready to learn every day, completes all homework assignments, and attends tutoring as needed.
  • Becoming familiar with all of your child's academic programs, school activities, and special programs offered on your campus and within the district.
  • Reviewing the requirements of the graduation programs and post-secondary options with your child, once your child enters middle school.
  • Monitoring your child's academic progress by building a relationship with your child's teachers and participate in ongoing communication regarding decisions about student performance, instructional programs, and campus policies. 
  • Attending scheduled conferences and request additional conferences as needed.
  • Serving as a parent representative on a district-level or campus-level planning committee.  To volunteer, please contact the school office. 
  • Participate in the Family / Parent Engagement training opportunities.

Lackland I.S.D. provee educación de calidad para cada estudiante en colaboración con programa de compromiso familiar.  Lackland I.S.D. se dedica a desarrollar y mantener asociaciones con padres, personal escolar y miembros de la comunidad para el logro académico de todos sus estudiantes. 

La participación familiar en esta asociación puede incluir:
 

  • Apoyando a su hijo(a) a dar una alta prioridad a la educación y trabajar con su hijo(a) para utilizar las oportunidades educativas que proporciona Lackland I.S.D.
  • Asegurarse de que su hijo(a) llegue a la escuela listo para aprender todos los días, completar todas las tareas y asista a la tutoría según sea necesario.
  • Familiarizarse con todos los programas académicos, actividades escolares y programas especiales de su hijo(a) ofrecidos en su campus y dentro del distrito.
  • Revisar los requisitos de los programas de graduación y las opciones postsecundarias con su hijo(a), una vez que su hijo(a) entre a la escuela intermedia.
  • Monitorear el progreso académico de su hijo(a) mediante establecer una relación con los maestros de su hijo(a) y participar en la comunicación continua con respecto a las decisiones sobre el desempeño de los estudiantes, los programas de instrucción y las pólizas del campus. 
  • Asistir a conferencias programadas y solicitar conferencias adicionales según sea necesario.
  • Servir como representante de los padres en un comité de planificación a nivel de distrito o campus.  Para ser voluntario, póngase en contacto con la oficina de la escuela. 
  • Participa en las oportunidades de entrenamiento para padres y familias.

Family Engagement Activities by Program

  • In addition to participating in schoolwide and program specific engagement opportunities,  Emergent bilingual students and their families have other resources available to support them.  Each title below is hyperlinked to additional family engagement resources. 
     

  • The district involves family and community members in services designed for gifted/talented students throughout the school year.

    Parent meetings and learning opportunities will be provided by both the campus and the district.  Campus opportunities should focus on the identification process and services provided, as well as specific needs of the campus.  District opportunities will include a variety of topics, including social & emotional needs of gifted learners, TAGT scholarships, and Duke TIP.  

    At the end of each school year, parents will be asked to complete an online survey that will be used to improve GT in LISD.

  • Lackland ISD provides a high quality pre-kindergarten (PK) program.  Students who reside on the installation and are four on or before September 1st of the school year are eligible to attend upon completing registration requirements.  Linked below are our family engagement plan and activities provided by the pre-kindergarten program and elementary campus.  
     

  • In addition to participating in schoolwide and program specific engagement opportunities, families of students with special needs have other resources available to support them.  Each title below is hyperlinked to additional family engagement resources. 
     

  •  Annually, the Lackland Elementary School Title I committee develops a parent compact to guide parent and school engagement.   Two information sessions are held annually to provide information about Title I programs and funding.  Committee approved parent compacts are linked below for your review.
     

  • Lackland I.S.D. engages students and parents in biannual opportunities to share feedback and recommendations to improve school culture and climate.  These opportunities are provided in the fall and spring of each school year.  Recent survey results are linked below for your review.
     

  • Lackland ISD strongly desires parent participation in decision-making committees.  You have an opportunity to share your voice and help us actualize our vision as The Premier leader in educational excellence.  As you engage as a parent, we also invite your participation in campus and district-level committees.  Below are the descriptions for these committees for your consideration.  Each committee’s point of contact is listed with the committee description if you have additional questions.
