Joint Base San Antonio School Liaison Office
Joint Base San Antonio School Liaison Office (SLO) helps parents ease the transition of the mobile military lifestyle and can assist prior to your PCS, upon arrival, while at your installation and when you prepare to depart for your next duty station. They specialize in serving military families with K-12 school age children and are able to provide information about the local school systems and community. The SLO will support parents and school districts with the Interstate Compact for the Education of Military Students interpretation, information on schools and boundaries, Home School, Deployment Support, and provide School and Community Outreach partnerships. These military dependent education professionals serve as a link between military families and all surrounding school districts ensuring maximum educational opportunities for academic success.

Sherrie Walker
Ms. Sherrie Walker is the School Liaison Specialist for JBSA-Lackland, San Antonio, TX. She connects schools, families and communities to meet the unique needs of PreK-12 military connected students by serving as the installation point of contact for all local military child education matters. Ms. Walker cultivates communication pathways between families, schools, community stakeholders, and the military by maintaining a working relationship with local schools and other agencies. She also customizes real-time solutions for military connected students facing transitional barriers and educational gaps by staying connected with agencies that provide education services to our military connected families.
Ms. Walker grew up in Port Gibson, Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Alcorn State University – Lorman, Mississippi. After graduation, Ms. Walker moved with her formal spouse to Clark AFB, Philippines. Her travels continued to Guam, Hawaii, California and Atsugi, Japan, where her Child Development career began as a Child Development Program Director. She later transitioned to become a Training & Curriculum Specialist at the Naval Communications Station CDC, Guam and MWR, Naval Air Station, New Orleans, Louisiana. After her time as a Training & Curriculum Specialist she became a Child Development Program Director at MWR, Naval Air Station, New Orleans, Louisiana; Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan; Andrews AFB, Maryland; and Gateway CDC, Lackland AFB, TX. She then moved to become a Supervisory Child Development Director and Family Child Care Coordinator for RAF Menwith Hill, UK. After leaving the UK, she became a Training & Curriculum Specialist & Child Development Program Director at Geilenkirchen CDC, NATO Air Base, Germany, before returning to Gateway CDC. From 2023 -2025, Ms. Walker served as Chief, Child Development Programs at Okinawa, Japan. In January 2025 Ms. Walker returned to JBSA Lackland, where she began her journey as a School Liaison Program Manager. Outside of work, Ms. Walker volunteered at the Blue Skies. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. serving the community.
