Back to School Procedures 

• Parents are responsible for keeping students home that are not feeling well or have any of the following symptoms.
• These symptoms include Fever (measured at 100.0 F or greater), Vomiting and/or Diarrhea.
• Please keep your child home if they have any of these symptoms 
• Students who report with any of these symptoms that are new to the student (does not normally have asthma, seasonal allergies, etc.)  during the school day will be referred to the Eagle Clinic.   
• A student with any of these symptoms will need to go home and be fever, vomit and/or diarrhea free for 24 hours with no medication to return to school. 
• The nurse will contact the child's parent(s)/guardian(s) to pick the student up.  Protocols and guidelines for when the student can return will be discussed. 

Basic Health Care and Hygiene

• Please do not send medications to school with your child.   Medications must be checked in with the nurse in their original containers and must be the appropriate dosage for your child.  Accurate prescription labels must be on prescription medication accompanied by doctor's orders.
• Please talk to your child about proper hand hygiene.  Visual reminders are posted throughout the school.  
• Sanitizer stations will be available throughout district facilities for use when hand washing is not available. 

COVID-19 Return to School Procedures

• The Texas Department of State Health has updated school exclusion criteria to align with the requirements for COVID-19. Student now only need to be excluded from school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

• No need to isolate and reporting Positive Test is recommended not required.

Fevers of 100.0 F 

The school district considers 100.0 F a fever.  Please do not give your child fever-reducing medications and send them to school.

Well-Child Health Clinic Procedures

• School nurses will do our best to support the health needs of all students. 
• All teachers will be supplied with basic first aid supplies so that small cuts and scrapes, loose teeth, chapped lips, etc. can be handled in the classroom. 
• There will be a well-child area in the nurse's office for medication administration and moderate to severe first-aid injuries.  
• There will be a well-child area for other health services such as diabetic monitoring and treatments, and tube feedings.
