LISD has a five-member board of trustees, four civilian and one military member.  Prospective members are nominated by the Base Commander and approved by Texas State Board of Education for two-year terms. The Base Commander appoints a non-voting Liaison Officer to the District.

Unless otherwise provided in the notice for a meeting, Board meetings shall be held at the District Office Board Room at Building 8265, 2460 Kenly Ave., Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX  78236.

Regular meetings of the Board shall be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at either 11:30 a.m. or 6:00 p.m.  When determined necessary and for the convenience of the Trustees, the Board President may change the date or time of a regular meeting.  The notice for that meeting shall reflect the change date or time.
